Community members once again this spring have the opportunity to learn what it takes to be a police officer through the Rockville Community Police Academy. In this 8-10 week course, you will learn about all aspects of the police department, receive hands-on training and earn a graduation certificate upon course completion.
Rockville is engaged in a sustained, communitywide effort to fight back against the crisis of opioid overdoses gripping communities across the United States. All Rockville City Police Department officers have been trained in the use of the lifesaving prescription drug Narcan and each officer has been issued at least two doses.
Commanded by Major Over, the administration bureau is responsible for administrative support, property and evidence, public safety communications, the Parking Enforcement Unit and oversees the automated Photo Enforcement Unit (red light/speed camera citations).
Field Services & Special Operations
Commanded by Major England, field services is responsible for the six patrol teams who respond to calls for service, enforce traffic laws, investigate accidents and warrant service. He also oversee's the agency's Emergency Management and Homeland Security Unit, the Field Training of new police officer recruits as well as the Special Operations Bureau to include the Criminal Investigations Unit, the School Resource Officer, Community Service Officer and Town Center Patrol Unit.
