Foundation

A foundation permit is required for footings, grade beams, columns, and foundation walls. Trade work and slab construction is not permitted with a foundation permit.

 Tips:
  • Don't start work without an approved permit. A violation could result in a code enforcement violation with a penalty fee.
  • Submit the application at least 30 days in advance of scheduled work. On average, a foundation permit takes 30 days to review and approve.

Permit Process

Meet with Inspection Services

Before submitting permits, you must meet with inspection services to review the proposed building plan. Our team will advise on the criteria required for the permit and help ensure the plans fit within the requirements.

You must bring the building plans to the meeting for review.

Gather Additional Documentation

Additional resources are required with the permit application.

You will need:
  1. Two copies of the complete foundation plans.
  2. Two copies of base building (shell) plans that meet the new buildings requirements.
  3. Two copies of superstructure plans to include structural load calculations for the entire building including wind, snow, live and dead loads, complete set of structural plans, height and area calculations and architectural elevations and sections.
  4. Review the complex structure requirements and complete the complex structure agreement.

All plans must be wet stamped and signed by the appropriate design professionals.
